Chiropractic

Chiropractic adjustments are therapeutic treatments where a chiropractor manipulates joints in your body using their hands or special instruments. This type of therapy can help you get relief from pain in bones, muscles, joints and various connecting tissues (ligaments, tendons and cartilage). It also restores the structural integrity of the spine and suppresses pressure on neurological tissues.

What are the benefits of a chiropractic adjustment?

A chiropractic adjustment can offer many benefits, including:

  • Helps minimize migraines and neck-related headaches.
  • Improves your posture.
  • Reduces pain and improves the range of motion of your spine and other joints.
  • Reduces symptoms of chronic conditions like osteoarthritis.
  • Treats minor neck or spine injuries, especially whiplash.

Why is a chiropractic adjustment done?

If you’re looking for relief from symptoms that are affecting your musculoskeletal system, chiropractic adjustments may be able to help. This natural form of treatment can address issues like aches and pain, muscle stiffness, and chronic conditions. Some people find that chiropractic adjustments are a helpful alternative to prescription medicine.

Who can get a chiropractic adjustment?

Chiropractic adjustments can be an effective way to treat pain for people of all ages, including both children and adults. The most common age range for people seeking chiropractic care is 45 to 64 years old. However, anyone can benefit from this type of treatment, regardless of age.

What is the popping sound I hear during a chiropractic adjustment?

You may feel popping or cracking sensations during a chiropractic adjustment. These are gases, like oxygen, nitrogen and carbon dioxide, released from your joints. Gas gets trapped in small cavities of your joints when you move and stretch. While this gas release may be more apparent during a chiropractic adjustment, you also experience a similar sound when you crack your knuckles.

Does a chiropractic adjustment hurt?

Chiropractic adjustments are similar to what you might feel after a workout. Your chiropractor will apply controlled force to your joints, which might create a cracking noise. While this might sound painful, it is not actually painful.

What happens after a chiropractic adjustment?

After a chiropractic adjustment, you might feel a bit sore in the areas that your chiropractor worked on. This is perfectly normal and usually goes away within 24 hours. If you see a chiropractor regularly, you probably won’t even notice this feeling.

Your chiropractor might recommend some “homework” for you to do after your appointment, in order to extend your therapy. These recommendations might include:

  • Exercises and stretches.
  • Proper ergonomics for improving your posture.
  • Icing/heat therapy or topical analgesics.
  • Advice on nutrition, diet, weight or general health.
  • Ways to manage stress and relax muscles.
  • Electrical muscle stimulation using transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulators (TENS).

I had been dealing with chronic neck pain for 6 years before I decided to visit Dr. K.K. Kant. I'm so glad I did because he not only cured me within 15 days, but he was also an amazing doctor and human being throughout the entire process. His dry needling and cupping therapy were extremely effective and I would highly recommend him to anyone seeking treatment for similar issues.
