CPM

Continuous passive motion is a therapy that uses a machine to move a joint without the patient having to exert any effort. A motorised device gently bends the joint back and forth to a set number of degrees, and the amount of movement and speed can be adjusted by the physical therapist. CPM machines are most commonly used on knee joints.

Benefits

Pre Therapy

Post Therapy

  • Recovering normal joint mobility after surgery
  • Reduce joint stiffness and pain.
  • Prevent scar tissue formation and improve range of motion.
  • Reduce the risk of DVT after knee surgery.
  • Alternatives to using CPM include physical therapy and active mobilisation.

Before you have surgery, it’s important to talk to your surgical team and physiotherapist about what your recovery and rehabilitation will look like. Find out what type of mobilisation will be done after surgery, when it will begin, and what factors may lead to using CPM instead of active mobilisation. This way, you’ll be more prepared for what to expect after your surgery.

If you’re ever feeling uncertain or in pain, please be sure to speak with your therapist. They’ll be able to help you assess your progress and determine which types of exercises, activities, and other treatments are best for your rehabilitation.

I had been dealing with chronic neck pain for 6 years before I decided to visit Dr. K.K. Kant. I'm so glad I did because he not only cured me within 15 days, but he was also an amazing doctor and human being throughout the entire process. His dry needling and cupping therapy were extremely effective and I would highly recommend him to anyone seeking treatment for similar issues.

The dry needling and cupping therapy he does is magic. I strongly recommend him if you have pain anywhere in your body.
